Terrorists kidnapped the District Head of Birnin Tsaba in Zamfara State’s Zurmi Local Government Area, Alhaji Hashimu, and his younger brother, Danbalange, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress in the area.
Mohammed Faruku, a local, told City Round that the district head and his brother were kidnapped at their homes around 4.30 a.m. on Friday.
“Both men were kidnapped from their homes in Birnin Tsaba by a group of terrorists riding motorcycles,” Faruku said.
“The attack on the two victims was launched by a notorious terrorist leader,” said a family member of the victims, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of being attacked. He called us and confirmed the victims’ kidnapping by his gang.”
He went on to say that the victims were kidnapped as a result of security agents seizing two brand new motorcycles belonging to the terrorists’ leader.
According to the family member, “the terrorists’ kingpin has also threatened that the victims will face his wrath because the government was made aware of his confiscated motorcycles by security agents.”
Idris Abdullahi, another victim’s relative, stated, “We are making every effort to ensure their immediate release.” We’ve already begun negotiating with the kingpin.”
As of the time of filing this report, the state police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached by phone for comment.
