Senegal have won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after edging hosts Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic final played on Sunday.

The decisive goal came in the 94th minute through Pape Gueye, sealing victory for the Senegalese side in a tense encounter marked by controversy and stoppages.

Earlier in the match, a Senegal goal was ruled out, triggering visible frustration among the players. Tensions escalated further when the referee awarded a penalty to Morocco, prompting Senegal’s players to stage an on-field protest and briefly walk off the pitch.

Match officials intervened to restore order, and play resumed after a short delay. Morocco, however, failed to convert the penalty, keeping the score level.

Moments later, Gueye struck the winning goal to hand Senegal the continental title. The final has since generated widespread debate among fans and analysts, with the disallowed goal and disputed penalty decision dominating post-match discussions.
