The Kaduna State Police Command has summoned former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and six key members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement, mischief, and causing grievous harm.
A police letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Uzainu Abdullahi, directed El-Rufai and the party leaders to report to the State CID on September 8 to clarify allegations brought against them.
Those invited alongside the former governor are Bashir Sa’idu, Ja’afaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (aka 30), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (aka Mikiya).
The summons followed the violent disruption of an opposition coalition meeting under the ADC last Saturday in Kaduna, where suspected thugs armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones attacked participants and destroyed property. The event, which was the inauguration of a transition committee, continued under tense conditions despite the chaos.
In the aftermath, the Kaduna State government accused El-Rufai of inciting violence and attempting to destabilise the state through inflammatory actions and remarks. Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, warned that the government would not allow “a discredited former leader” to drag the state back into insecurity and division.
El-Rufai has denied the allegations, while ADC members claimed they had not received the police invitation, saying they only saw reports of it on social media.
