Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, says former Vice President Atiku Abubakar does not have the capacity to lead Nigeria.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oshiomhole argued that Atiku’s inability to stabilise or strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) undermines his claim that he can fix the country.
“If Atiku, as a former vice president under the PDP, could not fix or rebuild the party or provide leadership using the influence he had, how can he claim he will fix Nigeria?” Oshiomhole said.
His comments came shortly after Atiku formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition-backed party he is expected to align with ahead of the 2027 general elections. Atiku confirmed his defection in an X post, sharing a photo of his ADC membership card with the caption, “It’s official.”
Oshiomhole also recalled Atiku’s earlier exit from the APC, saying the former vice president left because he failed to secure the party’s presidential ticket. “He went back to the PDP because of elections, yet he couldn’t build the party that made him vice president,” he said.
Atiku resigned from the PDP in July after prolonged internal crises, paving the way for his latest move to the ADC.
