The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning Nigerians to avoid Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles following a recall linked to undeclared allergens.

In a Public Alert No. 041/2025 dated December 18, 2025, NAFDAC said the recall notice was issued by Rappel Conso of France after laboratory tests detected the presence of milk and eggs not declared on the product label. The undeclared allergens pose serious health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

According to the agency, the recall affects all batches of the Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026. The country of origin was not stated in the recall notice.

NAFDAC noted that although the risk of the product entering Nigeria is considered low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation, vigilance remains necessary to prevent possible illegal entry or circulation.

“The recall is due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs, which may pose a significant health risk to consumers with allergies or intolerances,” the agency said in a statement.

NAFDAC described the product as a popular household food in many countries because of its affordability and convenience but warned that the undisclosed ingredients could trigger severe allergic reactions in vulnerable consumers.

To address the risk, the agency said it has activated nationwide surveillance measures. All zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to intensify monitoring and immediately seize and remove the product if found anywhere in the country.

NAFDAC also cautioned that the product could still find its way into Nigeria through online purchases or international travel.

Distributors, retailers, and consumers were advised to remain cautious and avoid the distribution, sale, or consumption of the recalled Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles. Consumers who encounter the product were urged to discard it immediately and not consume it.

Members of the public were further encouraged to report sightings or suspected sales of the recalled noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s toll-free line, 0800-162-3322. Adverse reactions associated with the product should also be reported via NAFDAC offices or the agency’s online reporting platforms.
