In a brazen attack on Sunday, armed bandits stormed several churches in the Kurmin Wali area of Kajuru Local Government, Kaduna State, abducting more than 100 worshippers during services.

A source with family members among the victims told SaharaReporters that the assailants forcibly removed congregants from the churches. Reports indicate that around ten vulnerable individuals were later released by the attackers.

Local authorities and security agencies have been alerted, and efforts to secure the release of the remaining hostages are ongoing.

This incident adds to a growing pattern of violent attacks by bandits in Kaduna State. Earlier this month, on January 3, bandits killed four members of a family in Kachia town during an overnight assault near the newly established Federal University of Applied Science, the headquarters of Kachia Local Government.

Eyewitnesses described the attacks as terrifying, with attackers arriving in large numbers and opening fire on residents. Several others were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Residents continue to express fear over repeated assaults despite the presence of major institutions and security formations in the area, highlighting persistent security challenges in southern Kaduna.
