Hundreds of protesters stormed the All Progressives Congress national secretariat on Tuesday morning, demanding the immediate dismissal of the party’s chairman of the Federal Capital Territory, Abdulmalik Usman.
The demonstrators insisted on having the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, address them while shouting solidarity songs and holding multiple placards that said, “Kick out Malik Usman” and “We say NO to party impunity in the FCT.”
The FCT APC has been mired in an internal crisis that has pitted Usman against party members who have pledged to oust him and elect new officials.
The FCT party chairman has been accused, among other things, of being a sit-tight leader who governs with impunity without soliciting input from other stakeholders.
