Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has said that the people of Anambra have taken ownership of his re-election campaign ahead of the 2025 governorship election.

Soludo made the remark while addressing members of various ethnic groups from 35 states of the federation residing in Anambra, who gathered at the International Convention Center, Awka, to endorse him for a second term in office.

The governor’s endorsement by the ethnic associations comes shortly after the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the state also declared support for his re-election during the World Teachers’ Day celebration.

Expressing gratitude, Soludo said he was deeply humbled by the overwhelming support from residents across the state, noting that the people’s spontaneous endorsements showed their confidence in his leadership.

“I’m deeply humbled by the outpouring of support from different tribes and groups. I do not take this for granted,” Soludo said. “From what is happening, the people have taken over my campaign. I promise not to disappoint them.”

The governor emphasized inclusivity and unity, stating that his administration does not discriminate based on ethnicity, religion, or background.

“In Anambra, we have one state and one agenda. Religion, location, or local government is not our concern. Once you live in Anambra, you are of Anambra,” he said. “God didn’t make a mistake putting us together as one people with the potential to lead the black race.”

Recounting the wave of public-driven support for his re-election bid, Soludo revealed that several groups and communities had independently purchased nomination forms and contributed substantial funds toward his campaign.

According to him, the Anambra North Senatorial Zone donated ₦70 million, Anambra South gave ₦100 million, and Anambra Central contributed ₦70 million, while various communities including Obosi (₦50m), Igboukwu (₦50m), Oraifite (₦100m), Ojoto (₦50m), Abatete (₦20m), and Ekwulobia (₦80m) also made donations.

Soludo assured the people that their faith in him would not be misplaced, promising greater achievements if re-elected.

“Your support is a call for deeper dedication to service,” he said. “We are only at the introductory stage of our development. After the next four years, anyone visiting Anambra will see that something remarkable has happened.”

He reaffirmed his personal commitment to making Anambra a livable and prosperous state, saying:

“I want to retire and live here, to walk freely on our streets. Together, we will make Anambra a destination, not a departure lounge. The solution is here.”
