With less than two months to the Anambra governorship election, the political atmosphere has been heated by a bitter clash between Anambra First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, and Senator Uche Ekwunife, the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mrs Soludo, in a strongly worded statement on Saturday, gave Ekwunife a 72-hour ultimatum to withdraw allegations of infidelity and tender a public apology or face legal action. She accused the APC candidate of dragging her children into political mudslinging and vowed to defend her family’s integrity.
Her reaction followed a viral video where Ekwunife alleged that Mrs Soludo had ties to the late former governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju and suggested questions over her children’s paternity. The outburst came after Governor Chukwuma Soludo had questioned the authenticity of Ekwunife’s PhD and GCE results.
“I never met Dr. Mbadinuju of blessed memory in my life. In my 55 years on planet earth, I have known only one man—Chukwuma Soludo. I married him as a virgin and my fidelity in 33 years of marriage is ironclad,” the First Lady declared.
Going further, Mrs Soludo challenged Ekwunife to swear an oath of chastity before the Catholic Blessed Sacrament and proposed DNA tests for both families in reputable London hospitals, pledging to foot all expenses.
But in a swift rebuttal, Ekwunife dismissed the challenges as “trivial and diversionary,” insisting that Mrs Soludo owed explanations only to her husband, not to her.
“Mrs Soludo doesn’t owe me explanations on her chastity or her children’s paternity. If her husband demands a DNA test, let her go ahead with her full chest. Why drag me into family affairs?” she said.
The fiery exchange, which has dominated political discourse in the state, underscores the increasingly personal dimension of the November 8 governorship election campaigns.
