Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has imposed a ₦5 million penalty on property owners who converted buildings to other uses without approval.

In a public notice on Monday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) gave affected owners 30 days to regularise their titles or face further sanctions. Most of the listed properties, in Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse II, and Garki, were illegally converted from residential to commercial use.

The directive requires payment of the fine at the Department of Land Administration, Abuja, after which owners will receive approval letters and fresh certificates of occupancy valid for 99 years. Properties previously revoked for non-development, rent default, or other violations are excluded.

Notable affected owners include former APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, ex-Osun State governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Supreme Court Justices Atanda Fatai-Williams and Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
