We’ve been hearing from a senior US defence official this evening.
The source, who was not identified, told NBC News that the US has been co-ordinating and facilitating the shipment of aircraft parts into Ukraine.
They added that Ukraine now has more than 20 fixed wing aircraft operable because of spare parts, including both fighters and bombers.
The defence official added that howitzer artillery rounds are now arriving in the country and “more are coming”.
Meanwhile, the US has begun training more than 50 members of the Ukrainian military on how to use the long ranged weapons.
They are being trained outside of Ukraine, and this takes about a week.
The official added that fighting has continued in Kherson in recent hours, while Russian troops are advancing south from the north side of the Donbas region.
