President Bola Tinubu has congratulated renowned journalist and former presidential adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati, on his 60th birthday, celebrated on November 7, 2025.

In a statement issued by the State House, President Tinubu described Abati as a “public intellectual, author, columnist, law graduate, and broadcaster,” whose distinguished career has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s media and public discourse.

“I extend my warmest felicitations to Dr. Reuben Abati, renowned journalist and former presidential adviser, on his 60th birthday,” the President said. “A public intellectual, author, columnist, law graduate, and broadcaster, Dr. Abati has excelled in every sphere—academia, journalism, and public service.”

President Tinubu praised Abati’s “insightful writings and television analyses,” noting that his consistent commentaries continue to enlighten and inspire Nigerians. He commended the veteran journalist for his service as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan and for his overall contributions to national development through the media.

“Dr. Abati’s patriotism and passion as a public commentator, who brings creativity and versatility to national issues across both traditional and social media, are remarkable,” the statement added.

The President also congratulated Abati on the presentation of his three new books—Portraits: People, Politics and Society, A Love Letter and Other Stories, and How Goodluck Jonathan Became President—released in commemoration of his 60th birthday.

Joining the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), family, and friends in the celebration, President Tinubu prayed for Abati’s continued good health, long life, and sustained inspiration in his service to the nation.

“Happy birthday, Rubi!” the President concluded.
