President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 59th birthday, describing him as a loyal partner and dependable deputy in the effort to build a more prosperous Nigeria.
In a message released on Monday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the occasion was a “unique opportunity” to honour Shettima, whom he referred to as his brother and partner in service.
Tinubu praised Shettima’s courage, resilience, and belief in Nigeria’s potential, noting that his record as former Governor of Borno State and later as Senator representing Borno Central reflected a leadership style rooted in service rather than privilege.
“You served the people of Borno excellently as Governor for eight years and later as Senator. In both roles, you demonstrated that leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of immense challenges,” the statement read in part.
The President commended Shettima’s passion for democracy, good governance, and economic development, adding that his vibrancy and loyalty as Vice President had strengthened the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“In choosing you as a partner, I selected competence and other qualities that Nigeria could depend on. Every day as Vice President, you have justified that choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians,” Tinubu said.
He also highlighted Shettima’s contributions to reforms in food security, investments, and international partnerships, stressing that their collaboration would continue to deliver tangible benefits such as jobs, schools, hospitals, and trade opportunities.
According to Tinubu, their bond goes beyond official duties, serving as “a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and service.”
The President prayed for renewed strength, wisdom, and more years of impactful service for the Vice President while extending warm birthday wishes.
