President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC) to drive the execution of his administration’s tax reforms. The committee will be chaired by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, with oversight from the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, according to a statement by presidential spokesperson Mr. Bayo Onanuga on Friday in Abuja.

The committee is tasked with engaging both public and private sector stakeholders to ensure comprehensive input into the implementation process. Tegbe, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, brings over 35 years of professional experience, including his tenure as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa.

Mrs. Sanyade Okoli, Special Adviser to the President on Finance and Economy, will serve as Secretary, while other members include Ismaeel Ahmed and Rukaiya El-Rufai. President Tinubu emphasized that effective implementation of the new Tax Acts is central to the administration’s economic transformation agenda and strengthening public finance management.

“These new Tax Acts reflect our commitment to building a fair, transparent, and technology-driven tax system that supports economic growth while protecting the interests of citizens and businesses,” Tinubu said. He added that the NTPIC would coordinate nationwide stakeholder consultations, public awareness campaigns, and inter-agency harmonization to ensure smooth implementation.

Tegbe pledged the committee’s commitment to executing its mandate efficiently. Minister Edun described the committee as a major step toward resetting Nigeria’s fiscal framework, enhancing revenue mobilization, reducing leakages, and reinforcing accountability to support national development goals.
