Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdelrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Tuesday reaffirmed that his country will sustain its mediation efforts to end the Gaza war, despite airstrikes that hit Doha earlier in the day.

“Qatari diplomacy is not built on the actions of a state like Israel or any other party,” he said. “It is founded on the principle of regional stability, which can only be achieved through diplomatic solutions and intensive work, not through wars and conflicts.”

Al Thani stressed that mediation remains central to Qatar’s foreign policy, adding, “Nothing will deter us from maintaining this role in regional issues until stability is achieved.”

Explosions were reported in the Qatari capital on Tuesday, prompting the foreign ministry to condemn what it called a “cowardly” attack aimed at Hamas’ political leadership.

Israel later confirmed it had carried out “a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organisation,” though it did not disclose the location. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the action was in response to recent deadly attacks in Jerusalem and Gaza.

According to Hamas, five members were killed in the strike, including the son of a senior leader, along with a Qatari security officer. The group noted that none of its negotiating delegation was harmed.

The attack drew widespread condemnation from regional powers, including the UAE, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
