Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has inaugurated the newly constructed Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre in Bauchi, describing it as a milestone that will promote global engagement and drive economic growth in the state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, Obasanjo emphasised the importance of global integration, noting that no nation can develop in isolation. He said the centre would enable Bauchi to connect with the world, attract investors, and host international events that will stimulate socioeconomic development.
“This conference centre is expected to attract investors, create jobs, and boost the local economy, contributing to Bauchi’s overall growth and development,” Obasanjo said. “It will enhance Bauchi’s visibility on the global map, positioning the state as a hub for dialogue, innovation, and investment in Northern Nigeria.”
The former president commended Governor Bala Mohammed for prioritising infrastructure and developmental projects, which he said have strengthened the state’s capacity to host international gatherings and improve the welfare of its people.
In his remarks, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude to Obasanjo for his support and leadership, assuring that his administration remains committed to initiatives that promote education, tourism, and economic advancement across the state.
He said the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre represents his administration’s vision of transforming Bauchi into a regional hub for intellectual discourse, business engagement, and cultural exchange.
“The centre will serve as a multipurpose facility for academic conferences, business summits, and cultural exhibitions, reflecting our commitment to making Bauchi a destination for innovation and investment,” the governor stated.
