Liverpool have confirmed the signing of left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in a £40 million deal, continuing their major summer rebuild under new head coach Arne Slot. The 21-year-old Hungarian has penned a five-year contract at Anfield, becoming the latest addition to a growing list of high-profile arrivals.
Kerkez joins fellow newcomers Jeremie Frimpong, who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million, and Frimpong’s former teammate Florian Wirtz, whose potential British-record transfer could rise to £116 million.
Additionally, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will officially complete his £29 million move from Valencia on July 1, having agreed terms last August.
These acquisitions bring Liverpool’s total summer outlay to over £200 million.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Kerkez expressed his excitement:
“I’m really happy. It’s a huge honour to join one of the biggest clubs in the world – the biggest in England. I can’t wait to get started, put on the training kit, and begin preparations for the season. I’ll give absolutely everything to help win trophies and hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I’m excited to hear that roar.”
Kerkez impressed during his debut Premier League campaign with Bournemouth, notching two goals and six assists in 38 appearances. His consistent performances had long attracted Liverpool’s interest.
Notably, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes – who previously signed Kerkez for Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 – played a key role in bringing the defender to Merseyside.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have already moved to fill the void by signing Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert earlier this month in a deal worth up to £14.3 million.
