Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has approved N680 million for the renovation of graveyards across the state’s 34 local government areas.
Radda announced the approval on Thursday while receiving royal fathers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates at the Government House. He said the initiative, which allocates N20 million to each council, was aimed at improving the condition of graveyards and attracting Allah’s blessings to the state.
“My administration has approved over N20 million for each local government council to renovate graveyards in their areas. This initiative is both a service to the people and a way of seeking Allah’s blessings for the state,” he said.
The governor also disclosed that, under a new law passed by the State House of Assembly, all district heads would now earn salaries equivalent to Grade Level 16 and above. In addition, 6,652 ward heads have been placed on monthly allowances, while 3,000 Imams and their deputies from Friday mosques will receive stipends. He added that Izala and Darika mosque sweepers across the 34 local government areas will also benefit.
Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional and religious institutions as part of broader efforts to address insecurity in the state.
