Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lashed out at critics of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing them as “politically expired” individuals who fail to recognise the progress being made under the current government.

Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during the flag-off and commissioning of road projects in the Ushafa-Bwari area of Abuja. He criticised long-standing political figures who, according to him, have switched parties multiple times since 1999 and still refuse to acknowledge the administration’s achievements.

“Let those who lack vision and have moved across more than ten political parties since 1999 see what the President is doing. No matter the channel they tune into, they will see Mr. President working. People still say nothing is working—must we visit their homes before they admit it?” Wike said.

The event, which featured the commissioning of the dualised War College/Army checkpoint road and other connecting roads, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu.

Wike praised the project contractors and coordinators for their delivery, but emphasized that working under his leadership requires commitment and performance.

“Working with me isn’t easy. If you can survive working with me, you can work anywhere. You are not appointed to relax or enjoy privileges. You must prove your capacity and deliver results,” he added.

The FCT Minister also applauded President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for what he described as an unprecedented level of attention to previously neglected satellite towns in the territory.

“This is the first time a sitting President and Vice President are physically visiting satellite communities. It shows the President’s genuine concern for all areas, not just the city center,” he stated.

Wike noted that the commissioned road project is part of a wider plan to bring development to underserved parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
