The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), under the auspices of the African Church, has marked its 25th anniversary with a medical outreach in collaboration with the Okolie Foundation.
YWCA also acknowledged Stella Okolie as its grand matron at a Thanksgiving/ Independence Day Service held on Sunday, September 25th, 2022 at The African Church, Broad Street, Lagos.
Adetoun Kujore, the association’s president, stated that the outreach is part of their social responsibility.
She said: “YWCA, in conjunction with Stella Okolie Foundation, held a medical outreach on September 18 to give back to the community and to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We offered services such as diabetes check-up, blood pressure, sugar level, malaria check-up and lots more. About 200 persons participated in the programme.”
Kujore went on to describe Okolie as a philanthropist and a genuine indigenous Nigerian who has made significant contributions to society and the field of education.
“I am very proud of Mrs. Okolie. We invited her and she helped us carry out the medical outreach, which opened up our door to the entire environment. This is the kind of people we need in Nigeria. The medical outreach was not restricted to church members only, the public also benefitted. We distribute food to the public sometimes and keep thinking of new ways to help. When you have great women in the society, Nigeria will become a better place.”
She congratulated Nigeria on its 62nd year of independence and advised Nigerians to vote for a leader who would help the masses.
