The Super Eagles held their first training session on Tuesday afternoon in Kigali ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Head coach Eric Chelle supervised the session, which featured all 22 players currently in camp. This session marked the team’s first under Chelle since his appointment in January, providing him an opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the crucial fixture.

The Super Eagles opened camp on Monday for the clash against the Amavubi and will undergo two more training sessions before the match. The team is focused on securing their first win in the qualifiers, as they currently sit in 5th place in Group C.

With experienced players like captain William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Ademola Lookman in the squad, the Nigerian side is aiming for a strong performance against Rwanda. The team’s preparations have emphasized tactical drills, set-piece routines, and match fitness to ensure they are ready for the challenge.

The matchday five encounter is set to take place at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, kicking off at 5:00 PM Nigeria time. A positive result will be crucial for the Super Eagles as they look to improve their standing in the group and boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
