President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, lauded Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for his visionary leadership and inaugurated a series of landmark projects executed by the state government.

During a one-day working visit to the state, Tinubu commissioned the newly built Anambra State Government House complex, which includes governor and presidential lodges, as well as the Solution Fun City, the refurbished Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, and the Dr. Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy. Also inaugurated was the Light of the Nation Tower, a towering monument constructed by Dutum Construction Ltd., designed to enhance the aesthetics of the state capital and reflect Anambra’s progressive identity.

Praising Soludo’s governance, Tinubu described him as “a brilliant man” and a trusted ally, noting that the projects reflect the governor’s bold vision. “These are bold statements of leadership,” Tinubu said. “He consolidated the banking system when many thought it impossible, and today we are reaping the benefits.”

The president also addressed issues affecting the region, pledging to support Anambra with ecological funds to tackle gully erosion and ensure the inclusion of the state in the National Rail Master Plan. He further committed to completing abandoned federal road projects linking Anambra to Kogi, which he described as vital for regional connectivity.

Speaking at a town hall meeting at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their support during the 2023 elections. “Soludo remains my friend. We will work together to bring prosperity to Anambra and Nigeria,” he stated.

In a symbolic gesture, traditional rulers in the state conferred on Tinubu the chieftaincy title “Dike Simba Anambra,” meaning “a warrior from a distant land.” The president expressed his gratitude and joked about building a retirement home in the state.

Governor Soludo described the president’s visit as historic and reaffirmed his administration’s support for the federal government. He highlighted APGA’s policy of supporting the government in power and emphasized the shared progressive ideology between APGA and APC. “We are progressives, and Mr. President is the leader of the biggest progressive party in Nigeria. It’s time for all progressives to unite for the nation’s good,” Soludo said.

He also showcased ongoing projects across the state, including 500 kilometers of roads, schools, hospitals, and water projects, describing them as part of a long-term transformation plan for Anambra.

Prominent figures including the South East Chairperson of MAN, Mrs. Ada Chukwudozie; businessman Sir Emeka Offor; and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Dr. Emeka Anyaoku, commended Soludo’s performance and called for support for his re-election.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including governors of Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Gombe, Ogun, and Delta states; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu; senators, ministers, and other top government officials.
