President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the worst of the country’s economic challenges are over, expressing optimism that citizens will soon begin to feel the positive impact of ongoing reforms.

In a statement on Thursday to mark the Muslim festival of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu acknowledged the difficult economic conditions but maintained that key indicators were showing signs of improvement.

“We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere,” the president said. “Our reforms are gaining traction, with key economic indicators now moving in a positive direction. Soon, all will feel the benefits.”

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to its economic agenda, Tinubu said Nigeria is entering a new phase of hope and prosperity. He credited the resilience of both public and private sector leaders, as well as the support of Nigerians, for the progress made so far.

“I assure you that the toughest days are behind us,” he added. “There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all.”

The president called for continued prayers for the country and its leaders, and extended condolences to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State, where lives and properties were lost. He also urged support for the armed forces and frontline personnel safeguarding national security.

“As we observe this Eid, let us pray for our front-line officers who risk their lives for our safety, and for peace in our troubled world,” he said. “Let us dedicate this sacred celebration to seeking God’s guidance and blessings for our country.”

Tinubu said the Eid-el-Kabir festival represents a time for deep reflection on the values of sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness, urging Nigerians to embody these virtues in their daily lives.

“Eid reminds us of our responsibilities beyond faith: to show resilience, tolerance, compassion, and dedication to the progress of our beloved country,” he said. “Together, we have weathered challenging times and are approaching a brighter horizon.”

He noted that the ultimate goal of the government’s reforms is to improve lives and deliver sustainable development. “We crafted our Renewed Hope Agenda to bring prosperity to every Nigerian, and we remain steadfast in our pursuit of it.”

The president concluded by calling on Nigerians to demonstrate love and generosity during the Eid season, especially toward the less privileged.

“Let the virtues of perseverance, sacrifice, loyalty, faith, and shared humanity bind us closer,” he said. “May Almighty Allah accept our worship and devotion as acts of Ibadah, and may His blessings be with us always.”
