Thomas Frank has written a heartfelt farewell letter to Brentford following confirmation of his departure after nearly a decade at the club. The Danish coach was officially named the new Tottenham Hotspur manager on Thursday, replacing Ange Postecoglou who was dismissed last week.

Frank arrived at Brentford in 2016 as an assistant manager before being promoted to head coach in 2018. Under his leadership, the club achieved historic success, including their first-ever promotion to the Premier League in 2021. He has since kept them competitive in the top flight, defying expectations each season.

In an emotional statement released on Friday, Frank said, “The time has come for me to move on. But even as I leave, I know I’m leaving a big piece of my heart at Brentford—not just at the club, but within the community and with our incredible and loyal supporters.”

He expressed deep gratitude to the club and all who played a role in his journey, “I want to sincerely thank the club for giving me the opportunity to chase my dreams, and to everyone who made this journey so special. For my family and me, it has been an honour to be part of such a unique and welcoming community—an experience we will always cherish.”

Brentford came close to securing a first-ever European qualification spot last season, eventually finishing 10th. Their impressive campaign once again reflected the club’s ability to overachieve, something Frank famously alluded to by describing Brentford as “just a bus stop in Hounslow” punching far above its weight.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Frank added, “Whatever we’ve accomplished, we did it together. Our success was built on unity, spirit, courage, and ambition—values that run through every part of the club and its fanbase. Every contribution has mattered, and for that, I am immensely thankful.”

He also reserved special praise for Brentford owner Matthew Benham, “A special thank you to Matthew Benham. His belief in me and his friendship have meant so much. He gave me my chance in English football, and for that, I will be forever grateful.”

Concluding his message, Frank said, “Though this is goodbye, I hope the relationships I’ve built here will endure. I’m not just leaving a club—I’m parting with friends and a community I will never forget. And of course, we’ll see each other again in the beautiful world of football.”
