Seven players have reported to the Super Falcons’ training base in Casablanca as preparations continue for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The arrivals include U.S.-based trio Asisat Oshoala, Michelle Alozie, and Deborah Abiodun. They are joined by Chinwendu Ihezuo, Folashade Ijamilusi, Esther Okoronkwo, and newly invited forward Chioma Okafor.
These players will link up with the rest of the squad on Wednesday, following the team’s 0-0 draw against Portugal in an international friendly played in Lisbon on Monday, where 17 players were in action.
The Super Falcons will face their arch-rivals, the Black Queens of Ghana, in another warm-up fixture on Sunday as they fine-tune preparations for the tournament.
Nigeria will be aiming to clinch a record-extending 10th WAFCON title when the competition kicks off in Morocco early next month.
