Okon Effiong Okon, the incoming Commissioner of Police of Rivers State, has stated that he is a supporter of human rights and that people’s rights will be maintained under his watch.
Okon also promised to ensure an election campaign free of violence in the 2023 national elections.
CP Okon became the state’s 43rd Commissioner of Police, following Friday Eboka, who was promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police in command of Zone 16, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Okon, is the immediate past Commandant of the Police College in Oji River, Enugu State, is a native of Cross River State’s Biase Local Government Area.
The new CP also committed to prioritize human rights preservation and respect, particularly for the state’s citizens.
Okon announced this at his first media news conference on Wednesday at the Police Command’s headquarters along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.
