The Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has officially resigned from his position. His resignation was announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas.

The statement acknowledged Dr. Nwaeke’s dedication and contributions during his brief tenure and expressed gratitude for his service to the state. It also extended best wishes for his future endeavors.

In response to his departure, Dr. (Mrs.) Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, has been appointed as the Acting Head of Service. She will hold the position in an interim capacity until a substantive replacement is announced.

Congratulating Dr. Brown on her appointment, Vice Admiral Ibas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding neutrality, fostering peace, and ensuring stability in Rivers State.

The statement read:

Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika Appointed as Secretary to the State Government (SSG)

In a related development, Vice Admiral Ibas has appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

According to the statement, Professor Worika’s selection followed a rigorous evaluation process that considered his vast experience, academic credentials, and outstanding track record in public administration, legal scholarship, and policy advisory roles.

“Professor Worika’s wealth of expertise in legal affairs, governance, and public policy will be invaluable in driving the administration’s vision for Rivers State.
