Qatar Airways is reportedly close to finalising a major purchase agreement with U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing for around 100 widebody planes, with an option to buy an additional 100, Bloomberg News has reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The deal is expected to be announced during U.S. President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to the Middle East, which includes stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The visit is anticipated to spotlight major aerospace and defence deals, as part of a broader effort by the U.S. administration to boost American exports.
Neither Boeing nor Qatar Airways has officially commented on the potential agreement.
The reported aircraft deal comes on the heels of a Reuters exclusive revealing Trump’s plans to offer Saudi Arabia an arms package exceeding $100 billion. Bloomberg also reports that several major airlines in the region are accelerating negotiations on high-value contracts in advance of the U.S. President’s arrival.
Qatar Airways is said to be finalising the Boeing order as it seeks to expand its global footprint, capitalising on strong demand in international travel and its strategically located hub in Doha.
If confirmed, the deal would mark a significant win for Boeing, strengthening its market share in a region that continues to make substantial investments in aviation and infrastructure.
