On Tuesday in Abuja, the President, Muhammadu Buhari, bestowed national honors on at least 450 people, including 443 Nigerians and seven foreigners dubbed “Friends of Nigeria.”
Citizens who contribute to national growth, he believes, should be encouraged and rewarded.
He stated that 5,000 submissions were whittled down to 450 awards following criteria established in the National Honours Act, CAP.N43 of the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.
The President also urged those Nigerians who have yet to be recognized to “be patient and realize that their contributions in nation building are valued and will be equally recognized at the appropriate time.”
