The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has launched a strategic collaboration with the Abia State Government aimed at improving the ease of doing business and fostering a more investment-friendly environment in the state.
The partnership was formalised during a technical session held in Abia on Thursday, bringing together PEBEC officials, state representatives, and local business stakeholders to identify regulatory hurdles and design targeted reforms to boost enterprise and economic growth.
PEBEC Director General, Zahrah Audu, who led the session, underscored the need to dismantle bureaucratic barriers stifling business operations. “We want to empower local businesses by truly listening to their needs and removing the barriers they face. Our goal is to ensure a seamless interaction between business owners and government processes,” she said.
Also present were Gabriel Oyemi, Reform Leader with the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) programme, and Jennifer Uko-Obasi, Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Ease of Doing Business. Both stressed the importance of aligning state-level reforms with federal initiatives to drive sustainable change.
The initiative aligns with the federal government’s broader agenda to elevate Nigeria’s global competitiveness and stimulate private-sector development. In Abia, which boasts a dynamic commercial and industrial sector, the reforms are expected to cut red tape, improve transparency, and enhance investor and SME confidence.
With this renewed focus on business-friendly governance, Abia State is positioning itself as a hub for innovation, trade, and inclusive economic growth.
