As the world marks Children’s Day, parents of kidnapped children in Kano State say they remain in deep pain and anxiety over the fate of their missing children.

Comrade Isma’ila Ibrahim Muhammad, Chairman of the Coalition of Parents for the Abducted Children in Kano State (COPACK), told reporters that despite the global celebrations, their hearts remain heavy as their children are still held by kidnappers.

“We are happy about this day. However, we are saddened that our children are still with their captors. They have even changed their names and identities. We are praying for a miracle that they will return to their families,” he said.

Muhammad called on the Kano State government to urgently address the unresolved issue of the abducted children. “We urge the state government to assist in bringing our children back home. These children are not only from Kano but also from other Northern states,” he added.

Expressing frustration and pain, Muhammad appealed for increased vigilance among parents to help prevent such kidnappings in the future.

The situation has sparked widespread concern in Northern Nigeria, following reports that some abducted children have been taken to the South East and South-South regions, where their identities and names are alleged to have been altered.
