The Mayor of Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development through ongoing support for community-based programs and initiatives.
Speaking at the Abia Arise Mega Empowerment Meeting hosted by Hon. Stanley Egege in Itungwa, Obingwa LGA, Nwadike pledged to ensure that all wards and communities continue to benefit from both government and private interventions. The event, which attracted stakeholders from across the LGA, focused on empowering residents and deepening community engagement.
Mayor Nwadike praised Egege, Chairman of the Ogbonnaya Onu Governing Council, for organizing the event, describing him as a leader with a deep passion for the people. He emphasized that beyond the state’s current infrastructural strides, his administration is prioritizing employment creation and direct support for the underprivileged.
In her remarks, Madam Victoria Onwubiko, MD/CEO of ABSSAA and a member of the Abia Arise Steering Committee, commended Egege for his efforts. She described Abia Arise as the leading political structure supporting the state governor and encouraged other stakeholders to replicate such programs in their communities.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of Abia Arise, Mazi Nkem Okoro, lauded Egege’s initiatives, stating they go beyond ordinary empowerment and help reinforce loyalty to the party.
Hon. Peter Azubuike echoed similar sentiments, applauding Egege’s contributions toward addressing hunger and economic hardship. He highlighted Egege’s connection to his roots and his willingness to invest personal resources in community upliftment.
In his address, Hon. Stanley Egege expressed appreciation to guests and reaffirmed his dedication to community development. He announced plans to sponsor one student from each community in the LGA for higher education scholarships and explained that his motivation stemmed from a desire to support low-income traders and households lacking basic necessities.
The event featured visits to markets where petty traders received financial support, as well as the distribution of over 1,200 bags of rice, fertilizers, clothing materials, and cash to residents from various wards. Several influential community members also defected to the ruling party during the program and were formally welcomed by the party leadership in the LGA.
Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, Madam Victoria Onwubiko, Mazi Nkem Okoro, Hon. Peter Azubuike, and other executives and stakeholders of Abia Arise.
