A delegation from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, in Enugu, on Friday to express their sympathies over the passing of the football legend.
It will be recalled that the former Super Eagles captain died last month after a prolonged illness. The deceased also previously served as coach of the Kenyan national team.
The delegation was led by NFF First Vice President, Felix Anyansi Agwu, who stated that “they were sent by NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusua to convey the Federation’s condolences and to assess preparations for the late coach’s funeral”.
The delegation included the Chairman of the Nigerian National League (NNL), George Aluo; Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association, Barrister Tony Ugwu; his Anambra State counterpart, Chikelue Iloenyosi; and the Chairman of the Imo State Football Association, Ifeanyi Dike.
Anyansi Agwu offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late coach’s soul and emphasized the NFF’s intention to support the funeral arrangements.
He also encouraged the widow to take solace in the fact that her husband lived a fulfilled and impactful life.
In response, the late coach’s first son expressed gratitude to the NFF for their visit and pledged to keep them informed about the burial plans.
