The Nigeria Football Federation has reportedly written to the Federation of International Football (FIFA) in a new attempt to postpone the September 30 election.
The football body accuses the Federal Government and judiciary of interfering in football matters in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Muhammed Sanusi.
According to an authoritative source, the move by the Amaju Pinnick-led board, was aimed at obtaining approval to postpone the election and remain in power for a few more months.
It was also revealed that FIFA’s response to the letter was forwarded to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports. FIFA in its reply advised NFF to dialogue with all parties and move on with its operations which includes the forthcoming elections.
The NFF election, scheduled for Friday, September 30 in Benin, is currently threatened by a court injunction issued by the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria through the Task Force head Harrison Jalla.
Meanwhile, Sunday Dare, the Minister of Sports, is scheduled to meet with all Presidential candidates for the NFF election come Tuesday, September 27 in Abuja.
