A devastating fire broke out early this morning at approximately 5:40 am, affecting the top floor of a one-storey apartment building in the Udi Siding area of Enugu. The affected flat, owned by Mr. Johnson Onyibor, was severely damaged, but the Enugu State Fire and Rescue Service managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.
Mr. Onyibor, who was away visiting his village at the time of the incident, arrived at the scene visibly distressed. He appealed for assistance from the Enugu State Government, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and other well-meaning individuals to help his family, who are now facing significant losses.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though no casualties have been reported. The Nigeria Police, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) from the Central Police Station (CPS), were also present at the scene to ensure security.
Mr. Onyibor has called on both the state government and charitable individuals to come to his family’s aid during this difficult time.
