Colombian international Jhon Duran has completed a loan move to Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce, just six months after making a high-profile switch from Aston Villa to Al Nassr.
The 23-year-old striker, who left Villa Park in January in a deal reportedly worth £66 million, had a promising start to life in the Saudi Pro League, scoring 12 goals in just 18 appearances for Al Nassr.
Despite his impressive goal return, Duran now joins Fenerbahce on a season-long loan, linking up with newly appointed manager José Mourinho as the Turkish club looks to bolster its attacking options ahead of a competitive domestic and European campaign.
Duran’s move is seen as part of Mourinho’s broader plan to revamp Fenerbahce’s squad and challenge rivals both in the Süper Lig and in Europe.
The Portuguese tactician, known for maximizing the potential of young and dynamic players, is expected to make Duran a central figure in his attacking setup.
Duran originally joined Aston Villa from MLS side Chicago Fire in January 2023 and made several appearances off the bench before earning a big-money move to Al Nassr a year later.
His career has been on a steep upward trajectory, with his physical presence, pace, and eye for goal drawing attention from top clubs across Europe and the Middle East.
Fenerbahce fans will be hopeful that Duran can replicate, or even surpass, the form he displayed in Saudi Arabia. The club is also expected to compete in UEFA competitions this season, which could provide Duran with an opportunity to showcase his talent on a bigger stage.
The temporary deal reportedly includes an option for Fenerbahce to make the move permanent, depending on performance.
With Duran’s arrival, Fenerbahce continues to make a statement in the transfer market, signaling serious intent to return to domestic dominance and make a strong impact in Europe.
