The outgoing Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), Mr. Abdulrazaq Isa, has commended the significant strides made in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 NOG Energy Week in Abuja, Isa said the current government had demonstrated an “unprecedented” responsiveness to the sector’s long-standing reform demands. He noted that most of the industry’s requests had been met within a short time, setting the stage for transformational growth.

He particularly praised President Tinubu’s commitment to reforming the sector, citing the repositioning of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) as a commercially driven entity and the appointment of a competent leadership team, including Mr. Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer.

With the conclusion of major divestments by International Oil Companies (IOCs), the full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and new leadership across key agencies, Isa said the industry was now at a critical juncture.

“The ball is now firmly in our court,” Isa declared, urging operators to align with the national target of producing 3 million barrels of oil and 12 billion cubic feet of gas per day by 2030.

He noted that the recently acquired onshore and shallow water assets, now largely managed by IPPG members, would play a key role in achieving those targets. Isa called for deeper structural reforms, enhanced investments, stronger community relations, and improved sector-wide collaboration.

“We must become catalysts for economic transformation, attract strategic investment, and operate with the highest level of social responsibility and governance,” he said.

In a major leadership transition, Isa announced the appointment of Mr. Adegbite Falade, Group CEO of Aradel Holdings, as the incoming Chairman of IPPG’s Board of Trustees and Governing Council. Falade’s appointment will take effect during the group’s 10th anniversary celebration on September 11, 2025.

“Mr. Falade will no doubt build on our legacy and lead IPPG to greater heights,” Isa said.
