The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed yesterday how 23 of the Registration Officers it used for the recently finished Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) attempted to tamper with the process.
The charged officers, according to the commission, were involved in false registration but were tracked due to the access code linked to their dedicated email addresses established for the registration.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated that in certain cases, the perpetrators made up to 40 attempts or more to register one fake voter.
According to him, the 23 officials implicated in the unethical behaviour are presently facing disciplinary action.
INEC Chairman, said this during the commission’s quarterly meeting with civil society organisations (CSOs) yesterday in Abuja.
