Some customers of the new generation banks such as Access Holdings Plc, First Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) Plc and United Bank for Africa (UBA) at the weekend lamented their inability to seamlessly make online transactions due to a major disruption in these banks’ electronic channels during the independence day celebration.

The bank’s customers took to Twitter and other social networking sites to express their anger amid frustrations occasioned by their inability to make transactions.

A twitter user named Becket Okanlomo said, “What’s happening with Access Bank. The app has issues every week”.

Another user, Adeoye Felix said,

“UBA bank is very porous in terms of security and careless in terms of funds management.

It’s from one issue to another on a daily!

Hian! Thought Access bank was worse but looks like it’s UBA now”

For his part, Ndonna said, “Access Bank not today please. Not today. Open my app Abeg”.

A POS operator named Opeoluwa, said, “Some of my customers have not been able to make transactions due to network issues. I have not made a single penny since morning and it is very annoying that this is happening on the day Nigeria turned 62”.

NwafoLive gathered that the network concerns began first with Access Holdings Plc before other banks followed suit. Also, bank customers in Sangotedo area in Ajah were unable to use the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

At the time of this report yesterday, customers of the affected banks have confirmed that they have been able to make transactions.

Efforts to get the bank’s reaction on what it did to address the glitch were unsuccessful yesterday evening, as a message sent to it via its Twitter handle has not been responded to.
