Gunmen have allegedly attacked the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly. The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday at her country home in Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement released by her media office on Thursday in Lokoja, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the attack, describing it as unprovoked and politically motivated.

“We condemn the brazen attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State, on Tuesday, April 15,” the statement read. “Armed men, mistakenly believing the Senator was present, vandalized the windows of her grandfather’s house. Fortunately, security operatives responded swiftly and repelled the attackers.”

The statement suggested that the attack may be linked to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent public accusation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. It called on the Inspector General of Police to reinstate the Senator’s security details.

Narrating the events, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said, “Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to Ihima to inspect project sites for upcoming constituency projects. The gunmen assumed I was in town and attacked my family house that night. Thankfully, the civil defence team and community members intervened quickly and drove them away. A report was filed with the police, and no injuries were recorded.”

The Senator’s office urged the public to remain calm and support efforts to ensure justice, insisting that acts of intimidation will not deter her from representing her constituents.
