Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a resounding victory in the state during the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Wednesday at a rally held in his honour and that of President Tinubu at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Governor Otu said the president is working diligently to rebuild Nigeria’s economy. The event, tagged a “Thank You and Endorsement Rally,” was organized by the Cross River South Consultative Forum (CRSCF).
Representing President Tinubu at the rally, Otu urged citizens to remain patient with the federal government, acknowledging the challenges of governance.
“Running a state is tough; running 36 is even tougher. That’s why I say, give Mr. President time. Watch what he will do,” Otu said, noting the large turnout at the rally despite inclement weather as a sign of the people’s support.
Highlighting progress under his administration, Otu stated that his government has made key strides in economic development and security since taking office.
“We identified 13 critical areas of intervention at inception. Today, I can confidently say we have laid a solid economic foundation. Our GDP has increased, productivity is up, and Cross River is fast becoming a prime destination for investment and national conferences,” he said.
The governor also announced preparations for the 20th edition of Carnival Calabar, scheduled for December, promising a grand celebration that would attract global attention.
“The world is coming to Cross River this December,” he declared.
