Galatasaray secured the Turkish Super Lig title on Sunday evening with a commanding 3-0 win over Kayserispor at Rams Park, highlighted by a record-breaking goal from Victor Osimhen.

Entering the match on an eight-game winning streak and buoyed by their Turkish Cup triumph just four days earlier, the Lions needed all three points to clinch the championship—and they delivered in style.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 26th minute, heading home a pinpoint cross from Gabriel Sara past Kayserispor goalkeeper Bilal Bayazıt. The goal marked Osimhen’s 36th of the 2024/25 campaign, extending his lead over Mario Jardel’s 24-year-old record for most goals by a foreign player in a single Turkish season.

One of the evening’s most touching moments came when Osimhen’s two-year-old daughter, Hailey, announced her father’s goal to a roaring home crowd, sparking a heartfelt ovation throughout the stadium.

Barış Alper Yılmaz doubled Galatasaray’s advantage just ten minutes later, before veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera added a rare goal from the penalty spot to seal the emphatic victory.

With this win, Okan Buruk’s side clinched their record-extending 25th league title—with two matches still left to play.

Osimhen, who has scored 25 league goals this season, is now firmly in contention for the Golden Boot, currently leading the race ahead of Poland’s Krzysztof Piątek, who sits on 21 goals.

Will Osimhen Stay in Istanbul?

The future of the former African Player of the Year remains uncertain as his loan from Napoli approaches its conclusion. Osimhen joined Galatasaray in September 2024, after being dropped from the Serie A club’s first-team squad by manager Antonio Conte following a failed deadline-day move to Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.

While Galatasaray are eager to retain the Nigerian forward, his impressive performances have sparked interest from top European clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Juventus.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown renewed interest, but Osimhen has remained non-committal about his future, stating that he will make a decision at the end of the season. Though he has spoken warmly about his time at Galatasaray and the unwavering support of the fans, he has yet to rule out a move elsewhere.
