The Federal Government said on Sunday that the floods that have ravaged sections of the country had claimed 603 lives.
Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, made the announcement during a news conference in Abuja.
She expressed regret that, despite all attempts to avoid the consequences of the 2022 flooding season, the country had sadly lost nearly 600 lives.
Farouq argued that there was adequate warning and knowledge about the 2022 flood, but that states, local governments, and communities did not seem to be paying attention.
