The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to closing Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit by leveraging Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements as a key strategy for national development.

Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Jobson Ewalefoh, disclosed this on Tuesday at the opening of the Nigeria Public-Private Partnership Summit 2025 held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

Themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Potential: The Role of PPPs in Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda”, the two-day summit was attended by top government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Ewalefoh stated that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, infrastructure development has been repositioned as a catalyst for inclusive growth. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to promoting PPPs as a governance model that prioritizes innovation, efficiency, and accountability.

He cited key PPP projects such as the Highway Development and Management Initiative, the Egini Medical Infrastructure Scheme, and the Dasin Hausa Dam as examples of how Nigeria is laying the foundation for sustainable, private-sector-driven development. He also assured investors of a transparent and enabling regulatory environment, adding that the ICRC is dedicated to ensuring all PPP projects are legally sound, economically viable, and socially impactful.

In his address, Vice President Kashim Shettima described the National Integrated Infrastructure Masterplan 2020–2043 as Nigeria’s blueprint for expanding infrastructure stock from the current 35% of GDP to 70%. He stressed that achieving this target requires strong collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Shettima reiterated the Tinubu administration’s resolve to foster a conducive business climate that attracts investment and supports long-term growth.
