The Federal Government has concluded plans for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerian citizens in Israel and Iran, following the worsening conflict and persistent bombings between the two nations.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa.

According to the ministry, arrangements are being finalised to ensure the safe evacuation of Nigerians caught in the ongoing hostilities. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that following the escalation of the crisis between the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Government is finalising arrangements for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerians in both countries,” the statement read.

Affected citizens have been urged to adhere strictly to all security protocols and promptly contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further guidance.

The ministry commended the Nigerian Missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran for their continued outreach and commitment to supporting Nigerian communities during the crisis. “We wish to assure the general public that the Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens, both at home and abroad,” it added.

It further stated that the government is working closely with international partners and local authorities to facilitate a secure and timely evacuation process.

In addition, the Nigerian government renewed its appeal for a cessation of hostilities, calling on all parties involved to respect international humanitarian law, prioritise the protection of civilians, and embrace peaceful dialogue.

“Nigeria stands firm in its support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirms its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability,” the ministry noted.

The government also assured that updates on the evacuation process would be communicated through official channels as operations progress.
