Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement followed a closed-door meeting held Wednesday evening at the Government House in Asaba. Confirming the development in a phone call, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the decision was made after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of the state’s long-term development.
Oborevwori, who was elected under the PDP platform in the 2023 gubernatorial election, was welcomed into the APC by senior party officials. Political analysts have described the move as a strategic shift with far-reaching implications for the 2027 general elections.
