The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially awarded the hosting rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025 to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the Egyptian Government.

This decision comes after the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football (FIF) and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire informed CAF that, due to unforeseen circumstances, they are unable to host the tournament as originally planned.

Egypt, a nation with a rich footballing history and extensive experience in hosting major continental tournaments, had previously submitted a bid to stage the competition. Given its well-established football infrastructure and passionate fan base, Egypt is expected to deliver a successful edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament, which serves as a crucial platform for young African talents to showcase their skills on an international stage, will kick off on Sunday, April 27, 2025, with the final set for May 18, 2025. The competition also acts as a qualification pathway for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, making it a highly significant event for emerging footballers across the continent.

CAF has expressed confidence in Egypt’s ability to organize a world-class tournament, following its previous successes in hosting major competitions such as the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2019. Further details, including the official match venues and fixtures, are expected to be announced in the coming months.

With Egypt now set to host, excitement is building among football fans, players, and officials, as the next generation of African stars prepare to take center stage in this prestigious competition.
