The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), South-East zone, has strongly condemned the recent ban on public preaching by the Anambra State government.
Describing the policy introduced by Governor Chukwuma Soludo as misguided, the South-East Zonal Secretary of PFN, Rev. Blessed Amalambu, expressed concerns over its implications.
Reports indicate that the ban, aimed at curbing noise pollution, imposes heavy fines on violators. However, reacting to the development, Rev. Amalambu insisted that Christians would not stand by while an attempt is made to suppress what God has ordained.
He urged Governor Soludo, a fellow Christian, to reconsider his stance, emphasizing the need for legal consultation to ensure the policy does not infringe on the rights of Christians.
Additionally, Amalambu called for an amendment to the 1999 Constitution to guarantee equal representation for all faiths. He further appealed to the governor to uphold the freedom to preach the gospel publicly, highlighting its importance in reaching those who do not attend church.
