Birmingham City have announced the signing of Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
The 27-year-old has agreed to a three-year deal with the Blues, becoming the club’s first major signing since securing promotion back to the Championship. Known for his versatility, Osayi-Samuel can play as a full-back, wing-back, or winger — offering Birmingham valuable options on the flanks as they prepare for a competitive return to England’s second tier.
Osayi-Samuel began his professional career at Blackpool before making a name for himself at Queens Park Rangers. His performances in the Championship earned him a move to Fenerbahçe in 2021, where he made over 70 appearances across all competitions, impressing with his pace, work rate, and attacking threat.
Speaking after the signing, Birmingham City manager [insert coach’s name if known] expressed excitement:
“Bright brings experience, athleticism, and versatility. He knows what it takes to compete in the Championship and has developed further in Europe. We’re delighted to have him on board as we build a strong squad for the season ahead.”
Osayi-Samuel also shared his thoughts on joining the club:
“I’m excited to be back in English football, and I’m even more excited about the project here at Birmingham. The fans, the ambition, and the history of the club made this an easy decision for me.”
