Arsenal are making significant progress in their pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage.
Although a formal agreement between the two clubs is yet to be finalized, there is a strong sense of optimism among all parties involved that a deal can be reached.
Arsenal are said to be encouraged by Gyokeres’ eagerness to make the move, and personal terms are not expected to pose any issues.
Sporting have granted the Swedish striker additional time off from pre-season training amid the ongoing discussions. Originally scheduled to return on Monday, July 7—one week later than some of his teammates—Gyokeres has now been allowed to delay his return until Friday.
However, there is growing speculation that he may not return to Sporting at all.
Signing a new striker has been a top priority for Arsenal this transfer window. The club has assessed several options, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, before intensifying their focus on Gyokeres.
